History of Ang Masa Tungo Sa Bagong Anyo Ng Bansa (ANG MASA BANSA)

ANG MASA TUNGO SA BAGONG ANYO NG BANSA (or ANG MASA BANSA) is a national organization that was established on February 5, 2001, as a response to the ongoing issues faced by marginalized sectors across the country, particularly the urban poor. Leaders from various organizations representing the urban poor united to form an alliance aimed at assisting those experiencing severe poverty.

On September 16, 2003, the organization was registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which provided formal recognition of their mission and objectives. Based on the experiences of these leaders in different regions of the country, they observed that government programs intended for the poor often failed to reach or effectively support those in need.

A significant part of their mission is to help resolve the various issues faced by different types of organizations, such as:

  1. Informal settlers

  2. Farmers

  3. Fisherfolk

  4. Street vendors

  5. Tricycle drivers (TODA)

  6. Homeowners Associations (HOA)

  7. Women

  8. Youth

  9. Jeepney drivers

  10. Workers

  11. Contractual workers

In addressing the critical issues of each sector, ANG MASA BANSA has designed programs aimed at improving the conditions of these groups from the local level up to the national level. However, despite these efforts, the organization continues to face challenges, such as a lack of justice and barriers to accessing social services.

Nevertheless, ANG MASA BANSA remains dedicated to finding ways to achieve its goals of reducing poverty and addressing the oppression experienced by marginalized sectors. Their commitment is a testament to their willingness to fight for the rights and welfare of the people, and they will continue striving to work towards a better future for all members of ANG MASA BANSA.
